VoIP Security

Google and Yahoo are two of the most prominent internet companies that allow the use of VoIP system. But their services are open to hacking and bugging because they are open and free and offer less or no security at all in protecting calls. But having free public services doesn’t necessarily mean that these security services are not existent at all.

By going hand in hand with a professional VoIP services company, a person is able to add as much security as he may prefer. The main protective way being applied to the VoIP system is called encryption, which is in fact the main protection method of anything that is being offered online. It is the reason why a subscriber should feel confident and secure placing any personal information as well as some company or corporate data online. It is also the one responsible for making online purchases from credit cards a very safe method.  Encryption makes online banking a breeze and it is the reason why bank accounts are very much far from the hands of hackers all over the globe. If a person is able to trust online buying and banking while being protected by the encryption system then he should have no trouble trusting making calls via free services offered by the VoIP system.

Given that a person is willing to invest in an encrypted VoIP system and provided with a level of security tantamount to having a program against malicious software then this would suffice to cater to his needs. The benefits of which surely outweighs the problems that could potentially open up within an organization’s security and stability. VoIP are now being offered coupled with flexibility, scalability, unity, utility, lower fees and higher quality of services. With having more than 20 years of experience as well as knowledge, Sam Rozenfeld, founder and CEO of DLS Internet Services has been able to develop a keen eye for businesses plagued by inefficiency and slow processes can easily become a streamline business with the use of VoIP system. VoIP system have been able to bring a whole new set of advantages to businesses worldwide.

Making The Transition To VoIP

Telecommunications technology is getting more complex by the minute, that’s why it’s no surprise that VoIP becomes the better choice these days. It is cheaper, more practical and, with the right tools with you, you can practically take it everywhere. You just need the right network access for it. If you have good connections for VoIP, it’s time to think of making the transition to it and use it as your main telecommunications service. Here are some guidelines.

First, you must have the basics. That would involve a high speed internet connection, VoIP gear, and a public telephone number. A computer with speakers and a microphone will suffice. Certainly, getting a SIP phone or using an ATA (analog telephone adapter) with your analog phone is a better choice. You must have at least DSL for an Internet connection. Bigger bandwidth, better. This hold particularly true when it comes to businesses.

Then, you must transfer your Direct Inward Dialing (DID) number. What is DID, you may ask. It is the publicly accessible number given to you by your local phone company. For home VoIP, the VoIP service provider will do such transfer. For businesses, on the other hand, particularly those with different DIDs, a company technician must coordinate with the phone company.

Afterwards, set up appropriate hardware and software. Single-user accounts, like most residential accounts, will be fine with just a softphone software for their computer systems, a SIP phone or an ATA unit for their analog phone. Businesses require much more, like temporarily going for a gateway with their legacy PBX system, or getting a new IP-PBX. Over the long haul, an IP-PBX will speed up the implementation of convergent communications within the organization.

It’s time for the usual problems faced by most VoIP users. First is the power source. In emergency power outages, you must still be in contact with family, friends and clients. Residential users can have their calls rerouted to their mobile phones in the event of these outages. On the other hand, businesses can have calls transferred to backup analog phone numbers.

VoIP service monitoring is also of the essence. This is possible via third party companies. Single line residential accounts can go for single endpoint monitoring. It’s typically free of charge. Multiple endpoints, though, have paid options.

You must see to it that you get consistent, reliable quality service. When you constantly monitor your VoIP quality, this is possible. Any issues that would arise could be remedied by you or your service provider.

What Business VoIP Is All About

One thing that VoIP providers publicize the most about their service is the customization that was not available before. Regardless of how big or small a certain business is, these providers will always want to work with them even individually.

Even the VoIP providers themselves are fans of the benefits that they can give to their clients. They can offer all different kinds of things that could come with a little extra, price-wise, when you’re using the conventional phone line. These services could include multi-line services, call waiting, caller ID, call return, and call block, among others.

It boils down to identifying why your business needs to avail of VoIP services. Switching can be a bit costly. It doesn’t only call for purchasing or up scaling equipment, but it also requires for the employees to learn their way around the system. Without a doubt, VoIP has a great potential and will benefit almost all companies that will do the right thing and avail of such services. However, it’s not always the case with every company.

To be able to fully benefit from VoIP and the multimedia applications that come with it, your workforce should be distributed with branch offices or satellite offices, telecommuters and personnel out in the field.

Apparently, a certain company will have many reasons to ditch their old landlines and replace it with VoIP phones. However, the reasons not to do so should not be overlooked.

In a dwindling economy where we all want to cut corners, it’s no surprise that these companieswant to switch to VoIP. VoIP can be a great thing, but it might not be a great thing for your company.

Truth be told, if your organization thinks of switching to VoIP, you should do your homework. You should first figure out why you are switching and see to it that a detailed costs/benefits analysis before making your decision.

About VoIP Phone Systems

There are tons of companies creating VoIP Phone systems for the business purposes. They are very helpful in lessening the cost of communications to the company, be it for internal and external calling. Installation of VoIP phone systems not only lessens operational costs, but also gives flexibility to the user, making it a top choice in today’s markets.

VoIP phone systems refer to those systems that are connected to the Internet and have telephone voice, fax and/or voice messaging applications. VoIP is connected to the Internet and not the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

The first step involved in the installation of the VoIP system is that the analogue signal is converted into a digital format in which the signal is compressed or translated into an Internet Protocol (IP) packet, all set to be transmitted over the Internet. At the receiving end, this process is reversed. The system uses session control protocols to manage the tear down and set up of calls.

It also involves audio codecs, which encode the speech. This permits it to be transmitted over an IP network as digital audio through an audio stream. Codec stands for “coder-decoder”. It is a hardware used to compress/decompress the digital audio data as per the audio file format or the streaming audio format. The use of codecs varies from one purpose to another and often a range of various codecs are used at a given time. Some implementations rely upon the narrowband and compressed speech, while others are supported by high fidelity stereo codecs.

VoIP phone systems can be tailor fitter to suit businesses of any size and can dramatically cut communication costs as demonstrated by the sizeable amount of people making the switch to VoIP systems.

Traditional phone services are available in VoIP systems too, that permit the phone companies to give you inbound and outbound calling with Direct Inbound Dialing. A lot of companies allow unlimited calls to the US and selected countries in Europe, Asia and Canada for a monthly fee, which turns out to be almost free for any company.

I use VoIP for the past 5 years and love it!! you can’t beat the price…!

before you do anything…go to DSLReports.com and do some research. If you already have a provider in mind check them out, having a good stable Internet is a key component!

I use Packet8 for over 5 years now and I’m very happy! I use a VoIP Panasonic DECT 6.0 phone…..with build-in router/firewall and 6 extensions, one of them a blue-tooth flip-phone!

I also use the MagicJack for the past year…….so far….so good!

bear in mind….if you sign up with any VoIP provider and port over your number, you will not get back your old number if you cancel the service……and most cancellation frees really stick….like 69 + dollars…!

its a law now to port your number for cell and land-line providers, but not for VoIP!! some do and some don’t….!

you have to go on-line and fill out on on-line application to get E911 which is 1.99 a month now…but with the MagicJack its free, and it work too…..I’ve tried it out several times!
