I use VoIP for the past 5 years and love it!! you can’t beat the price…!

before you do anything…go to DSLReports.com and do some research. If you already have a provider in mind check them out, having a good stable Internet is a key component!

I use Packet8 for over 5 years now and I’m very happy! I use a VoIP Panasonic DECT 6.0 phone…..with build-in router/firewall and 6 extensions, one of them a blue-tooth flip-phone!

I also use the MagicJack for the past year…….so far….so good!

bear in mind….if you sign up with any VoIP provider and port over your number, you will not get back your old number if you cancel the service……and most cancellation frees really stick….like 69 + dollars…!

its a law now to port your number for cell and land-line providers, but not for VoIP!! some do and some don’t….!

you have to go on-line and fill out on on-line application to get E911 which is 1.99 a month now…but with the MagicJack its free, and it work too…..I’ve tried it out several times!

What do you think? Answer below!

A Beginners Guide on Voice Over Ip Termination

When the Internet was introduced some time back, some of the researchers had predicted that it will eventually lead to convergence of communication. This prediction has come true with the emergence of VoIP. Voice over IP termination as it is known among the technical world, sends the voice in the form of data packets via the Internet by converting analog signals into small digital IP packets. The main advantage of this transmission over the internet is that it completely cuts down the need to maintain optical fiber network, thereby cutting down on the cost of infrastructure.

Benefits of VoIP

1. Cheaper calls can be made using voice over IP services.

2. Location independent: one can remain in touch with their business or family no matter which part of the globe they are in.

3. Ideal for Mobile workers and virtual contact centers: Its mobility feature makes it convenient for mobile works and virtual contact centers to carry on their operations efficiently and cost-effectively while on the road.

4. Quality is supreme. So one need not bother about echo effects any more.

5. Reliable and secure: With security being in top focus of the providers, there is nothing to worry about in terms of reliability and safety of information.

6. Ease of service: VoIP calls are made using the traditional phones too; as a result it enhances the way you perform without changing the way you function.

Voice over IP telephony or IP telephony offers hosts of services which make it not just convenient but also feasible for all sectors of the industry to integrate it in their communication structure. These services include:

1. VoIP telephony – VoIP makes calling cost-effective and efficient. The quality of service which was initially a matter of concern has greatly improved, competing with that of the traditional mode of communication at present.

2. VoIP reseller programs – There are few premium VoIP service providers who offer reseller plans making it profitable for resellers to venture into this field with negligible investment and minimum risk. White label and gold are the two kinds of plans on offer. White label gives them the advantage of operating VoIP services under their own brand name.

3. Wholesale carrier services – Wholesalers act as a vital link between the service providers and VoIP resellers. They are required to set up the infrastructure needed to route the calls, namely – gateways, switches etc. With VoIP becoming the hot favorite of one and all, wholesalers have a lot to look forward to in terms of revenue generation.

4. VoIP Business solutions – VoIP providers offer a complete business solution to take care of the changing needs of the business houses. They are ideal for contact centres, ISP’s and corporates. They help in providing a cheaper way to network, increase efficiency and ultimately increases the profits.

There is no doubt about VoIP taking over the telecom sector in the coming years. For those who want to attain maximum benefits from VoIP, the time to venture in this field is now!

Voice Over IP Technology for Home Phone – will my Fax Machine Work?

Question by Independent_guy: Voice Over IP Technology for Home Phone – will my Fax Machine Work?
Hi, does it work with a fax machine connected to it? the phone company mentioned “for some people the fax works, for some it doesn’t”. Does it make sense they can not tell me in advance if the fax will work or not? also, I have 256kb/second upload speed and 1MB/second download speed – is this sufficient for reasonable quality when using Voice over IP technology? THANKS.

yes fax works. i use Ring Central. As far as bandwidth goes your speeds are fine. just don’t download torrents or music while using the phone. if you do the voice quality will be terrible.

Voip – Introduction to Voice Over Internet Protocol

Voip – Introduction to Voice Over Internet Protocol

Voice Over Internet Protocol is a relatively new method of sending and receiving telephone calls. Sometimes called IP telephony, internet telephony, broadband telephony broadband phone, or voice over broadband, VOIP technology allows you to make voice calls using a broadband internet connection, rather than a regular (analog) traditional phone line. Basically, it is the routing of voice conversations over the internet or through any other IP-based network.

The main benefit of using VOIP technology is that you can use your internet connection, which you are already paying for, to place long distance calls, completely circumventing local phone companies and their charges. Voice Over Internet Protocol does not carry the same taxes and other fees that local phone companies do.

How does VOIP work?

Traditional analog phone connections use analog technology. Simply put, the technology used in Voice Over Internet Protocol works by converting your voice from this analog signal into a digital signal, which can then be sent over the internet. If you are calling a regular phone, the digital signal is converted back into a traditional analog signal before it reaches the destination.

There are three main methods in which Voice Over Internet Protocol is used:

The most common way in which VOIP is used is with an ATA, or Analog Telephone Adaptor. This adaptor allows your existing phone to be used. The phone is connected to the adaptor, which is then routed through your computer and connected to the internet.

Another common way VOIP technology is being used is through the use of IP phones. These phones are specially designed to be used with a VOIP connection. In most ways, they are very similar to traditional house phones, except that rather than having a traditional phone line connector, the IP phones have an Ethernet connector. These IP phones plug directly into your internet router, bypassing the actual PC itself. The actual computer is then not required to be used with the phone. The necessary technologies are self-contained in the actual phone, and connected to the internet directly through the router.

The third most common method of using VOIP technology is called computer to computer, or PC to PC, calling. This method is entirely free and is not subject to any taxes or fees found with local telephone companies. The only things you need are an internet connection, any necessary VOIP software, a computer, and a microphone and speakers.

Why can I not find Voice over IP carriers in Iowa? Does Vonage have a monopoly in Iowa?

Question by doubletap_downzero: Why can I not find Voice over IP carriers in Iowa? Does Vonage have a monopoly in Iowa?
I have searched a TON of sites offering very affordable voice over IP (VOIP) service, however, all of them seem to offer service in in the ENTIRE USA except Iowa. What gives? Why won’t these companies touch Iowa? The only people offering VOIP in Iowa seems to be Qwest, MediaCom, and Vonage. Is there some monopoly they have here or what? I can get service from just about anybody in Nowheresville, Montanna or BuFu Wyoming but not in IA and its making me mad. If you can explain this unusual absence of service provision I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Voip (Voice Over Internet Protocol) Is Heart Of Online Calling

Before saying anything i want to make you aware of the Voip. Voip is described as the voice over internet protocol. It is a form of the Internet Telephony. Normally people use the traditional way of calling, like they use phone and mobile to communicate with each other. But traditional way of calling cost much more on per minute. Thats why there is a need of a program grow for reducing the calling cost. Then in 1995 Israel had developed this this program(Voip). From a user perspective, IP-telephony provides the same functions as traditional telephone service – call or fax transmission between subscribers of the city or PBX in real time. However, the use of digital technologies and channels can significantly reduce the cost of long distance and international calls.

Unlike the traditional telephone network (PSTN), where the voice is transmitted continuously in the “natural” analog form, in IP-based networks, all information is broadcast exclusively in digital form. Voice is encoded into a digital sequence, is sent to a destination where again decoded to the original human speech. Before sending a digitized voice information is compressed and split up into smaller “pieces” – the data packets, hence another name for IP-telephony – “packet telephony. Packets reaching, often by different routes to the destination, once again going into a whole, lined up in the original order.

Why is this done? For the most effective use of communication channels. It is evident that through the same tube of sufficient diameter cubic meter of tennis balls will be faster and easier than a cubic meter of footballs. Moreover, the flux density in the first case will be higher, and the unused voids will be smaller. On the Internet, unlike tubes, bags, depending on the load channels are sent by different routes (routing), i.e. flows are not one but many, allowing data transmission rate higher.

Because of the variety of terms the concept of IP-telephony and Internet telephony is often confused with each other or are identified with a computer (batch) telephony in general. It should be understood that the IP-telephony the Internet are privately owned computer telephony solutions. The main difference and advantage of IP-telephony is that the data is transferred over a dedicated digital channels. Such channels have sufficient capacity and are used only for voice traffic. Internet telephony as transmission lines using the public Internet, the channels which are loaded heterogeneous traffic and can not provide guaranteed bandwidth, which delays passage of signal instability and a deterioration of communication quality.

The Voip is very helpful to those caller who regularly make international calls. Compare to Voip the traditional way of calling cost very high rate. If you have the internet connection and the person whom you are calling also have have internet connection then you both can communicate freely with Voip. There are a lot of Voip programs which provide free Voip calling facility. If you want to make call on mobile or landlines in abroad then Voip is quite cheaper. so stay connected with Voip and enjoy the services of free Voip calls.
