Can VOIP telephone be forwarded to a non VOIP phone such as to a Blackberry or iPhone?

Question by Vanesa: Can VOIP telephone be forwarded to a non VOIP phone such as to a Blackberry or iPhone?
I have always been able to forward my office phone calls to my Blackberry or iPhone because the phone company has call forwarding. But a business land line is different from VOIP. If I were to get VOIP phone service, which is through the internet, can those calls be forwarded to my Blackberry or iPhone?

Best answer:

Answer by Nash
Call forwarding features works the same way in landlines and mobile phones as long as the mobile phone is added as an extension to the main number. See this kind of VoIP provider who offer simple way in forwarding your calls to mobile phones.

How do I trace someone who is calling by using voip raider software ?

Question by saleem: How do I trace someone who is calling by using voip raider software ?
I suppose, many of you would have used voip raider software. How could you trace someone who is using voip raider software for phone calls?

Best answer:

Answer by Mr. VoIP
They cannot easily be traced – by the average person.
But, I expect if the authorities got involved, they can trace back to the exchange that terminates the calls. Then, they will find out the calls originated from VoIP Raider. Then they will contact VoIP Raider and have them trace which of their users made the calls. So, I think it is possible, if they want to put forth the effort.

Question by freskabype: How can an employer tell if you are using voip service and not a landline?
I’m looking to apply for a work at home position and I have Voip service. The requirement is that I must have a traditional landline. How would this potential employer tell if I am using voip?

Best answer:

Answer by czyd1amond
They have their ways. Probably just the prefix would show that it is a voip number. Cell Phone companies have their own prefixes and voip ought to be the same.

Is it possible?
I have a wireless laptop.

My VOIP adapter needs internet!!

Best answer:

much easier to get the $ 6 usb wireless dongle for your laptop. Micro Center has them online, I picked up one at Walmart for a few $ $ more.
I stayed at lots of motels that provided free internet, it worked great.

good luck!

No additional equipment is required for Voice over IP connections you just need to contact your Internet Provider?

Question by Amelie D: No additional equipment is required for Voice over IP connections you just need to contact your Internet Provider?
true
false

Best answer:

Answer by Adrian
Based on the question literally, false. I run Voice over IP with Ventrilo and Teamspeak. I can also run MSN video/audio with no issue. I have no special hardware, nor does my ISP care about it.

However, if the question relates to VOIP phones, then someone has to give you an actual phone number. It’s either your service you buy the VOIP package from, or your ISP, if they provide VOIP phone service. In the cases of ISP’s VOIP packages, they usually provide a router that handles the VOIP stuff….

Q&A: Is VOIP (voice over internet protocol) phone-service just as good as service from your local phone company?

I use VoIP for the past 5 years and love it!! you can’t beat the price…!

before you do anything…go to DSLReports.com and do some research. If you already have a provider in mind check them out, having a good stable Internet is a key component!

I use Packet8 for over 5 years now and I’m very happy! I use a VoIP Panasonic DECT 6.0 phone…..with build-in router/firewall and 6 extensions, one of them a blue-tooth flip-phone!

I also use the MagicJack for the past year…….so far….so good!

bear in mind….if you sign up with any VoIP provider and port over your number, you will not get back your old number if you cancel the service……and most cancellation frees really stick….like 69 + dollars…!

its a law now to port your number for cell and land-line providers, but not for VoIP!! some do and some don’t….!

you have to go on-line and fill out on on-line application to get E911 which is 1.99 a month now…but with the MagicJack its free, and it work too…..I’ve tried it out several times!

I use VOIPO with cable and a wireless router.  It works like this…  The internet cable comes into the cable modem.  The network cable comes out of the modem into the VOIPO device.  The network cable comes out of the VOIPO device into my wireless router.  I can use internet anywhere in the house like normal.  Then a phone cable plugs into the VOIPO device and plugs into a wireless phone base.  Now I can use my wireless phone anywhere in the house too, but all calls are VOIP.  Very cool.

Here’s some information and a discount on VOIPO.

Voice Over IP Technology for Home Phone – will my Fax Machine Work?

Question by Independent_guy: Voice Over IP Technology for Home Phone – will my Fax Machine Work?
Hi, does it work with a fax machine connected to it? the phone company mentioned “for some people the fax works, for some it doesn’t”. Does it make sense they can not tell me in advance if the fax will work or not? also, I have 256kb/second upload speed and 1MB/second download speed – is this sufficient for reasonable quality when using Voice over IP technology? THANKS.

Best answer:

Answer by powerhour11
yes fax works. i use Ring Central. As far as bandwidth goes your speeds are fine. just don’t download torrents or music while using the phone. if you do the voice quality will be terrible.
